Our Story

The EmergencyLockdown is a door lock barricade designed by Patrick Holzer. Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, Mr. Holzer was shocked to find out the classroom doors did not have an additional barricade other than a deadbolt. Mr. Holzer took the time necessary to design, develop and manufacture a lock mechanism that will discourage intruders with the intent to cause harm.

After a series of certified tests, Mr. Holzer began to push his lock mechanism into the school system. He found a largely under-protected system without the necessary procedures involving safety locks. He also found that the intentions of the school systems to lack an emphasis on increased classroom door endurance in their future plans. However, it is a folly to suggest that classroom doors do not need locks; currently, school systems require students to learn procedures in which they hide strategically in more protected areas of the classroom, but do not give teachers the means to prevent intruder entry. This logic did not sit well with Mr. Holzer. This is why he has continued to develop and perfect his lock mechanism. Since the Sandy Hook shooting, ______ shootings have occurred and ________ could have been prevented with the EmergencyLockdown device.
